I was terrified to do this.
But wanting to stretch myself to live my life outside of my comfort zone, I went on a silent retreat for 7 days.
No talking, no phones, no social media and no writing (although I did journal a few of the days ).
The focus of the meditation retreat was silence and simplicity.
Because I was so restless the first several days, I told one of the teachers I was considering going home.
It was so hard.
She told me that what I was experiencing was not uncommon.
I’m glad I stuck it out. By about day 5ish, I felt so calm and peaceful.
And, I got really clear about what I want and don’t want in my life.
We all have such wisdom inside of ourselves when we stop the noise.
Here is my room at the Insight Meditation Center in Barre, MA—with my bed made as well as I make it at home.
Do you make time to intentionally be silent and detach from everything?
I’d love to hear about your experience,
Also, I have released some awesome new episodes on my podcast, Joyful Purpose, including short episodes on mindfulness, confidence and interviews with amazing guests. (I am already at 2,100 downloads!–which I’m told is good)
